The Weekly Outlook 03
Your oracle card pull for the week ahead, favorite stacks, lots of links and how I'm making friends as an adult mom of two.
Welcome to The Weekly Outlook, a tarot pull, a roundup of my favorite things + much more. Delivered every Monday morning to kick start your week.
Hi everyone!
It has been a WEEK. I feel as though I’ve been just getting by and forcing myself to slow down while managing my hormones. If you didn’t catch the full story on that - it’s all here. Anyway I rested, didn’t work out and tried to not let my emotions get the best of me - which by the way is hard when you have two kids under 5! I’m hoping this week will be better and judging by the oracle card pull for the week - it should be!
Let’s get to your Weekly Outlook, shall we?
Tarot/Oracle Pull for Your Week
I always love getting this card because it means that even though you might be going through a shit storm there is a clearing ahead. The Initiation card says “Initiations, like rites of passage, mark the shift from one age to the next, and can take place because of emotional turmoil, great loss, grief, or devastation. But it is through the seeming hardship that our heart cracks open and our spirit is invested to step forward.”
No matter what it is that you’re currently going through right now… hold space for the moment when things begin to clear up.
Making New Friends as an Adult
Okay so I was totally inspired to chat about this topic after reading “a kitchen chat with Joanna Goddard” by
. This quote from the article “I always look forward to Big Salad landing in my inbox Friday afternoons and can’t wait to read the post about making new friends as an adult. I’m a kindergarten mom this year and, wow, it’s been such a big year for new friends in my life. My six year old is like a friendship matchmaker.” had me saying “Yes!!” out loud in agreement. My almost six year old has been the BEST new friend matchmaker for me since he started kindergarten this year. I will admit that the other night at dinner I excitedly yelled to my husband … “I have new friends!!”. I will not tone down my vibes because its so hard meeting new people in your late 30s and dare I say it almost forties. Even though I live in NYC which is literally bustling with people my age, it’s still difficult. I mean I’m a mom of two and stepping outside of my comfortable, introverted, book loving, busy way of life is challenging. Apparently the solution to this was my very extroverted son!
A huge other factor that helped play into my new girl crew is my therapist. If you’ve been reading my Therapy Take Out issues you know that I’m on quite a journey. Through lots of deep and I mean deep inner work my confidence is now flourishing and my people pleasing tendencies are lowering. I’m much more comfortable in my own skin. I know and believe this is another huge key component of my new found mom friends.
Favorite Stacks to Read this Week
I love London. It’s one of my top cities to visit - could it be because I’m made up of 78% British/Irish genetics thats intuitively wrapped and rooted into this amazing place? Maybe! I really enjoyed reading “This Month in London: February/Birthday Edition” by
I love truth tellers. I came across this post and just found myself nodding along while chugging my coffee. “Can we stop selling a slow life on the internet already?” by
Childhood trauma and abandonment - this article hit me in the soul. “My Birth Mother Faked My Own Death” by
This is exactly what I needed to read this week. It’s funny how when you hear another mother expressing what you, yourself have been in the middle of - it relieves you and opens you up. It relaxes my nervous system in a way to think - okay I am not alone. Thank you

Kelly, thank you so much for sharing my post! It means a lot to me and I’m happy to know that it resonated with you. Your thoughts on adult friendships particularly struck a chord with me because building meaningful connections has been one of my greatest challenges since moving to London. It’s a constant work in progress!
